Chief of Naval Operations Presides over local NROTC Change of Command and Retirement
NC Piedmont Consortium of three NROTC units under new leadership
CNO Admiral Daryl Caudle oversaw the Change of Command of the Naval ROTC NC Piedmont Consortium on June 19. The Consortium consists of the three NROTC units of NC State, UNC and Duke University under a single command. Captain Brian Tanaka, USN, was relieved by Captain Andrew Cain, USN, in a ceremony at the NCSU Reynolds Coliseum Grand Hall. The ceremony toke place in front of a friendly audience that had a significant contingent of submarine service officers and sailors, and 4 members of the MOAA Triangle Chapter.
CAPT Tanaka is a native of Rochester, MN, who earned his commission via the NROTC program at Marquette University in 1996. CAPT Cain was born in Starkville, MS, was raised in Terra Haute, IN, and graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He earned his commission through Officer Candidate School in 2000.
All three offers at the rostrum are submariners.
CAPT Tanaka was the Triangle Chapter's featured speaker at our Scholarship Awards Dinner in May.
The Triangle Chapter hopes to get better acquainted with both CAPT Tanaka and CAPT Cain.
